HIMARS (M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) is a wheeled, truck‑mounted multiple‑rocket/missile launcher that fires precision guided rockets and tactical ballistic missiles. It provides highly mobile, shoot‑and‑scoot long‑range precision fires (e.g., GPS‑guided GMLRS rockets with ~70–80 km range and ATACMS family missiles at much longer ranges), rapid reload/mission flexiblity, networked targeting and increased survivability compared with heavier tube artillery.
